Tattered Dress Form Canvas Art

I have been adding texture to this canvas piece for awhile now...every time I used some stucco and gesso with stencil mask I would use up the extra onto this canvas.
I created the dress form for another project that I haven't finished so the inspiration for the background colors came from the dress form.
Dress form I white washed with gesso, grunge it up with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy with water.
Then started dripping Tattered Angels glimmer mist down the sides of the dress form
and letting it run down and around the body.
Stamped the dress form with a few 7gpysies stamps with archival black ink.
You can just keep adding layers of mist, ink!!
Oh don't forget to do glimmer splats...
I learned this techqinue from Marion Smith a few years back on grunging a dress form.
I knew I wanted to create some paper cone wing shape wreath..
Cut up an olde scrabble game pages into 2x2 squares
and began to roll into a cone shape, glued down
and tucked behind the dress form.
White washed the cones with a few little sprays of glimmer mist to match the background
and more splats!!
Oh adding a chain with dangles with a Petaloo Color Me Flower..
with glimmer mist and stamping
creates adorable touch.
close up of the stamping
Oh I love how the stamping shows up on the Petaloo flower!!!
Finial touch was adding a Art-i-Cake headpin to the top of
dress form...
Love the texture of the canvas background! I encourage you to grab some Tattered Angels Glimmer mist, paints and start never know where the art piece will lead you.

ATC: Americana

A few weeks ago when I was creating my 4th of July art to decorate around my home, a group of my friends decided we should start swapping ATC with each here is my little goodie!
Our theme of course was "Americana"
I used the 7gypsies Epicuream papers with adding some stucco/gesso with a crackle mask and stamping to create the ATC background texture.
Flag was super awesome to create: on the flag stamp I used distress ink faded jean-I inked it up only the star part in distress ink then carefully dabbed a brush loaded with water on the stamp (just a hit and miss) then stamp it onto Canvas Corp textured handmade paper allow to a great water color effect.
The same steps with the red stripes on the flag using distress ink barn door after dried cut out flag distress edges and glue to a toothpick that has been stained with distress ink walnut ink...glue down onto the ATC background then tie a tad of lace and stamp the title. To add even more texture crinckle up the flag then glue down and the topper of awesome is the splatting of glimmer mist over the whole ATC!!!
Next ATC will be a Christmas Theme! Whooo Christmas Time in July!
Thanks for stopping bye,
Peggy Lee

Dylusions ink spray: black marble

Soar Layout

Hi everyone.  Today I wanted to show you a layout that I created with the May Artsy Addicts Kit  featuring MME - Find Your Wings & Fly by Rhonna Farrer.
Soar Layout by Tonya Gibbs
The kits are a monthly subscription for around $40. For more information about the kits and to subscribe please visit:
At the end of  Addie's Birthday party last year she picked up this stack of helium balloons and starting spinning around in a circle.  The photo gives such a good glimpse into her whimsical free spirited approach to life.  I've been holding this photo for a while in hopes of the perfect paper to tell the story. Since this collection has a lot of  hot air balloons, soft pastel colors and girly girl images, I thought it would be perfect.
Soar Layout by Tonya Gibbs
Soar Layout by Tonya Gibbs http://www.psychomomscrapbooks.blogspot.comThe layered look printed on one of the papers, allowed me to give the feel of lots of small layers with little effort and no bulk.  I continued the look by layering a few of the pages from the 6x6 pad to form a clustered frame around the photograph. I left the border that has the hole for the paper pad on the paper and distressed it. This technique allowed me to build on the other office supply themes found in the paper.

The arrows were cut from my Silhouette Cameo, and the cut file can be purchased from the Silhouette store. I used both the positive and the negative of the cut on the layout.   The arrows help to give direction and movement to the embellishments.

I added a little of the washi tape and half a doily to soften up the harsh overlapping lines from the paper.  The Hot Air balloon and Soar Title were the 3D stickers from the collection and offer great dimension to the layout.  To hide a white vase in the background of the photograph, I used one of the brad embellishments next to the title.

I love the new trend of office supplies on layouts.  So I bought a package of reinforced holes and used my Prima Chalk Inks in pastel green to make them match my layout. I also included a small shipping tag.  To give a more organic whimsical look to the layout I sewed some of the elements down and left the strings hanging from the edges, and let the twine free fall around the photo at a diagonal.
**DESIGN TIP  I used the negative from a notebook paper punch scrap as one of my layers too.  When punching out borders, or cuts from diecuts, pay attention to the negatives, you may find a hidden treasure.
I love all the small details that make up this layout. It was a lot of fun challenging myself to use 6x6 papers to create a 12x12 layout. I would love to see what you guys are doing with your Artsy Addict Kits.  I challenge you to stop hoarding these beautiful papers, and post a project with them on the Artsy Addicts Facebook Wall.
Thanks for stopping in today,

4th of July Tri-Fold Mini

Let the 4th of July Celebration begin!
With the 4th among us this week I wanted to create a little tri-fold mini to sit upon the table for all to enjoy.
Also to inspire you to create  home decor items with your scrapbooking supplies.
To look outside the box!
Like taking this 7gypsies tri-fold journal card to create a little mini.
Here is a little look at front pages of the mini...
back side of little mini...
I started with a tri-fold journal card, gessoed lightly over the card-sprayed with homemade mist with brushed cordrury reinker and water.
Used walnut stain distress ink to ink the edges of the card, papers and embellishments.
Papers are 7gypsies Epicuream 6x6 paper pad cut down to 2.5x3.5 torn the edges and inked.
Die cut stars out of e-fluted kraft cardstock sheet, tied twine and button (also glimmer mist the stars).
Used a chalk marker to write Happy 4th of July on the chalkboard paper.
Fuzzy cut out images from the paper line for embellishments.

4th of July Tri-Fold mini home decor

Happy 4th everyone!
